steps for joining the Olympia mutuality circle
Step 1. Initial Explorations
Start getting your feet wet by doing some initial explorations into the Trillium path (see "Getting Started" page).

Step 2. Welcome Meeting
Set up a Welcome Meeting with our Welcomer, Kirstin Eventyr. She can be reached by completing our contact form contact form. This allows us to get a feel for where you are in your process and with the Trillium teachings, give you some background about the Trillium community in Olympia, and answer whatever questions you might have so far. We can also point you to additional resources or suggestions for your early explorations of the Trillium work.

Step 3. Deepen your engagement in the Trillium path.
For the next several months, we encourage you to attend multiple teacher-led sittings and read Trillium materials at whatever pace feels right for you. There are many ways to deepen your engagement. Some are listed on our Next Steps page. Of course you are free (and encouraged) to attend sittings in Portland and/or online - it's great to get exposed to different teachers! However, in order to join the Olympia mutuality circle, you should participate locally as well, including the sittings, so that you can start building relationships with current circle members and local teachers and mentors. This acclimation process helps create resonance and trust between you and the mutuality community. We recognize this is trickier during the pandemic. |
Step 4. Complete the Prerequisites
After several months of attending teacher-led sittings in Olympia with members of our community and/or online, you can ask to become part of the Mutuality Circle. This step is for when you feel ready to commit more deeply to this path and have completed one or more of the following:
Becoming a member of the Mutuality Circle also means having the maturity and capacity to co-create a safe, transformative environment by demonstrating an ability to deeply hear and respect others' experience, strong self-awareness, and well-developed self-responsibility skills.
We request that you have a clear understanding of the risks involved in participating in the circle. Embodied awakening entails deeply encountering our humanity, and can activate uncomfortable feelings and emotions. The safety of the group depends on all of us taking responsibility for our emotional and mental health, and during difficult times it may be appropriate to seek professional support. We ask that you read the following:
1. General disclaimer
2. The guidelines for practicing mutuality by CC Leigh which outlines how we respond to one another in mutuality
3. The Olympia Mutuality Community's member agreements

Step 5. Talk with a member of Coordinating Circle
If you feel a strong resonance with the Trillium teachings, and you have a strong desire to commit more deeply to this path, then when you've met the prerequisites above, you may contact one of the members of the Coordinating Circle and request to be considered for the mutuality circle. This Coordinating Circle member will be your "sponsor" and will go over the process of joining the peer circle. They will also help clarify expectations and get a feel for your readiness for the mutuality circle.
Your sponsor will bring your request to the Coordinating Circle for consideration. Because we respect the the level of resonance and mutual responsibility necessary for this deep work, we set aside time to discuss the new person's readiness for the mutuality circle. It is possible that the Coordinating Circle may ask you to wait a little longer before joining, and/or make other recommendations to help you prepare. Your request to join the mutuality circle will ultimately be voted on by the entire Coordinating Circle.

Step 6. Orientation Meeting
When you've been given the thumbs' up by the Coordinating Circle, you'll meet with the Overall Mutuality Circle Coordinator to go over the Member Agreements, Disclaimer and Guidelines for Practicing Mutuality. She will also to bring you up to speed about various Circle Member resources and benefits - e.g. the Members-Only pages on our website, Large Mutuality Circles, Small Mutuality circles, social activities, etc.
The Overall Mutuality Circle Coordinator will help you with the process for joining a small mutuality circle during the next open enrollment window.

The above guidelines are just that: guidelines. They are designed to help promote your readiness to participate in a self-governed group of practitioners committed to embodied awakening in alignment with Trillium Awakening.
To help create the smoothest transition possible for you and the mutuality community, the Olympia Trillium Coordinating Circle will decide on a case-by-case basis whether it seems appropriate for you join the circle right away, or to do a little more preparation first.
