Transfiguration Retreat 2018

Sorry to miss you... registration is now closed.
Picture
August 29 - September 5
at the Gwinwood Retreat Center on Hicks Lake
near Olympia, WA
We invite you to the 2018 Transfiguration Retreat!
All the beauty and power of the well-designed and time-tested IAM Transfiguration Retreat container, hosted this year by the vibrant Olympia Trillium Community
We are all waking up together. Walking each other home, as Ram Dass would say. We are inarticulate at times, playing on the edge, witnessing something new coming into Being.  In our shared field of radiant presence, compassion, and respect we welcome and claim who we really are, and what we can create together.

Steep in the fiery cauldron of transfiguration. Deeply rest in the loving arms of community. Bask in the heart of Being.
Bring your presence to this potent and timely conversation. The world longs for you and your gifts!

Please join us for a powerfully transformative event situated near the world-class mountains, lakes, rivers, sounds, and culture of the beautiful Pacific Northwest.

I feel utterly changed.  I have found my ground of being in consciousness.

It was the skillfulness, container, and wide welcome of every possible part of me - or expression of me - that made it possible.

I made peace with a fundamental existential angst, distrust, and wounding that I never thought was possible. I've done a lot of workshops and retreats, but this has been the most profoundly healing week of my life.
 Thank you so much!

Optional Offerings
As in previous TR’s there will be an enticing menu of offerings in the mornings and evenings that can enhance the organic, student-centric core programming of medium and small group work. We encourage participants to practice good self-care by pacing themselves throughout the week, so these offerings are optional and not required! There will be a series of offerings that are open to all participants as well as a parallel track designed for those established in their whole-being realization. Click on the offering titles for detailed descriptions!
Open Track for All Participants
the golden thread: a sketch of trillium's lineage - sandra glickman
In this session Sandra offers a perspective on the lineage of Trillium Awakening, beginning with Kashmir Shivaism, Baba Muktananda, Adi Da, Ramana Maharishi, and on down to Saniel Bonder, the Teachers Circle, Holacracy, and current times. She'll also introduce a wonderful book on Tantra Kashmir Shivaism:  The Splendor of Recognition, which states the Sutras of the nature of Being in the language and intent and of the Goddess Herself.  This spiritual declaration supports our divine feminine orientation and is amazingly refreshing!
consciousness clarification - fax gilbert
trillium awakening as the fulfillment of psychotherapy - John bottone
John will offer two presentations:

Trillium Awakening as the Fulfillment of Psychotherapy
– Part I.
While psychotherapy has traditionally been concerned with healthy ego-development, transpersonal psychology points to “self-transcendence” as a further stage of human development. This presentation will relate Trillium principles to the work of transpersonal psychologist Abraham Maslow and the ego development theory of Michael Washburn, and show how these theories predict the experiences of persons on the Trillium Awakening path. It will also include guided meditations for a deeper experience of the presented material.

Trillium Awakening as the Fulfillment of Psychotherapy – Part II.
Whole-being realization is the beginning of a much larger paradigm shift from an essentially “head-centric” hypermasculine oriented reality to a wholeness-centered reality integrating mind, body, environment, relationships and more! This presentation presents the profound nature of this paradigm shift, and clarifies why it is ultimately the fulfillment of not only psychotherapy, but of human development itself. It will use experiential exercises to highlight and deepen the presented material, and expand your understanding of the Trillium Awakening work.
fruits of awakened life - panel
A panel of teachers will explore the nuanced yet potent territory beyond whole-being realization
the blossoming of trillium - joanne lee & margit bantowsky
Joanne and Margit will facilitate a group conversation to envision community empowerment and the evolution of Trillium’s new incarnation
engaging the divine feminine - subhaga & sugandhi
The process of awakening is a move toward a place of wholeness. Immersing ourselves in the feminine nourishes and grounds us in our true fluid nature: light and dark, spirit and matter, singular and connected. Awakening, we embody the paradoxical wholeness of Being.

How does the Feminine show up for you? How can you integrate the Divine Feminine into your awakening process? How do you notice that you are loved? How do you notice that you are held by the Divine? How does your body speak to you?

In this hosted conversation, we will lean into Collective Consciousness together and hold you in your lived experience of the Divine Feminine
.
New this year!
The 2018 retreat has something special for confirmed whole-being realizers:  an opportunity to explore your untapped potentials in awakened life and contemplate the endlessly unfolding inquiry into  “What’s Next?”  For those of you not interested in Trillium's mentor/teacher developmental track, this could open exciting horizons for you!
  • investigate refinements of awakened life
  • enjoy a new level of challenge
  • support that is tailored to the unique needs of whole-being realizers
  • engage in co-creative expressions of vision and service
Morning Track for Whole-Being Realizers
These optional, one-hour offerings are geared towards the unique challenges and horizons of awakened life. Note: whole-being realizers are also free to attend the "Open Track" offerings, above. Click on the title below for an expanded session description:
Beyond whole-being realization - rod taylor
WHOLE-BEING EVOLUTION is a natural, lifelong process that leads from Source to Source. It is occurring in our own life and throughout all life as an evolutionary impulse of Being. It moves progressively through emergence, discovery, achievement, and phases in which we awaken to the full range of our infinite and finite nature, and continues endlessly in divinely human unfoldment, integration, and expression.

Rod will outline phases of whole-being evolution that emerge from our initial whole-being realization and integration into realizations of dimensions of the heart, intensification as the creation point of life, integration of awareness beyond self, and fulfillment in the sublime nature of whole-being essence. Group experience and discussion will help participants gain an understanding of potential advancing awakened realizations and open to emerging discoveries in their own awakened life. This session will be of most value to those who have already come into their own whole-being realization and are interested in potential further realizations in their awakened life.
Intimacy - sandra glickman
Cultivating the heart-deepening  practice of living as conscious immediacy with all phenomena, moment to moment.  Instruction in the knowledge of how to engage profoundly, how to embrace all the way through to infinity, how to thus abide in the paradox of “non-separate relationship” with all Others.

This feeling/conscious practice lends itself to spontaneous trust and awakened action from a place of non-separateness which honors both self and other and arises from a knowing that is neither merely “goodness” alone nor “dharma”/method alone, but is abidance in divine harmony.
guesthouse - margit bantowsky
Turn up the heat with this advanced, embodied greenlighting process
divine disappointment - Joanne lee
engage the sacred reconfiguration process - aka shakedown - by breaking through "mythologies of awakening"
new principles of awakened relationship - rod taylor
Growing toward and into whole-being realization provides an emerging ground of wholeness that offers and requires awakened principles of relating. Mutuality becomes realized as a component of our own embodied heart awakened nature, with awareness and capacity for meeting others in openness and love. Shared discovery of woundings, confusions, and fulfillments within awakening and awakened relationship provides an alchemical cauldron for individual and mutual growth, integration, and enrichment.

Rod will present principles of awakened relationship and approaches for living awakened mutuality in one’s personal life. Group interaction and discussion will help participants to understand and implement this knowledge in their own relationships. This session will be of most value to those who have already come to know and trust in the evolutionary processes of whole-being realization.
Special NW Guests
Krishna Gauci from Portland, OR
Picture
On Saturday evening long-time Trillium teacher and scholar, Krishna Gauci, will join us and share his deeply lived brilliance!

A Process: Awakening, Embodiment, and Fire

Silent sitting, gazing meditation, and a teaching conversation on the fusion of Spiritual Heart with ordinary life.

description of Krishna's offering
At our foundation, we are Unchanging Awareness, the Ground of Being. Resting in this freedom, we may become aware of the current of feeling referred to as Shakti, energy, bliss or grace. If we are attentive to this dimension of vibration, feeling deeply into it, an integrating sense of authenticity can begin to inform our lives.

This process can be both humbling and empowering, and requires compassion. You find that you are more fully present with the immensity of life, with its awful horror and stunning beauty. It is not a straightforward process of immediate expansion but rather an often-difficult heroic odyssey of expansion and contraction. Three steps forward and two steps backward. It is not a final destination of perfection, but an endless call to integrity through trust and surrender.

Come join us as we explore this together!

Subhaga and Sugandhi from Twisp, WA
Picture
Interning teachers Subhaga Crystal Bacon and Sugandhi Katharine Barnes will drive over the Cascades to help hold space for the mid-morning medium-sized groups, and to offer these deeply nurturing self-care options throughout the week:

Late Afternoon Nectar - 30 minutes of relaxing and integrating in Transmission before dinner

The two Twispians will also present the Engaging the Divine Feminine session, see Open Track, above.

prerequisites
The Transfiguration Retreat is a very intimate space where trust is paramount for transformation. In order to create a strong container for the work, we have established prerequisites to help ensure participants are well-equipped for the intensity of this weeklong journey. While teachers are the primary holders of the environment, each person affects the container for the other participants.

Prerequisites for those attending their first Transfiguration Retreat are at least one of the following:
  • a minimum of 5 sessions with a Trillium Awakening teacher
  • attending at least 5 Trillium Awakening sittings (at least 2 sittings were in-person)
  • a weekend Trillium Awakening core-dharma retreat, plus 2 teacher sessions or 2 sittings.

I you have PARTIALLY met some of the prerequisite options, we will ask you to please describe your experiences with Trillium Awakening so far, and will work with you to come up with a tailored plan to meet the prerequisites prior to the start of the Retreat. There may be additional costs associated with this.

If you have NOT met ANY of these options, then you must arrange for, and complete, a 5-session phone tutorial with a qualified Trillium teacher, plus attend a sitting (virtual is okay). These must be completed at least two weeks prior to the start of the retreat.

There is an additional cost for the tutorial and the sitting. The tutorial sessions are discounted 10% off the teacher's normal hourly session rates, and the suggested rate for a sitting is $20. You can choose which of the qualified teachers you prefer to work with.
refund policy
We appreciate how life can bring unexpected twists and turns! And, it takes a lot of work and expense to create a weeklong event like this. Here's what we can offer you in terms of refunds:

  • 100% refund if withdraw on or before June 30
  • 50% refund if withdraw on or before July 31
  • No refund after August 1
Food & allergy considerations
We will do our best to provide a healthy, nourishing environment that supports your both your body and spirit.

FOOD:
When you fill out the registration form, there will be an opportunity to indicate your food preferences, including vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free. All meals will be provided: from dinner on Weds, August 29, to breakfast on Weds, Sept 5. Some refrigerator space will be available

ALLERGIES:
We ask that all participants use unscented products so that those of us with chemical sensitivities can participate without getting sick. This includes avoiding essential oils, if at all possible.

ENVIRONMENT:
  • Mosquitoes: it is likely there will be some mosquitoes outdoors in the evening. If you can find an unscented bug spray, that'd be fabulous.
  • Poison Oak: although rare, poison oak does show up in Western Washington. There will be people on-site who can help you identify and avoid this plant.
Lodging
The 2018 Transfiguration Retreat will be held at the Westwood Retreat Center, an ADA-compliant retreat facility situated behind the main Gwinwood Lodge and grounds. Residents will have free WiFi, and limited access to a clothes washer and dryer.

All rooms at Westwood are offered as doubles, on a first-come, first-served basis.
Rooms are furnished with two beds and a rack for hanging clothes. Mattresses are new and in great shape. Each room has a window, and the nearby bathrooms and showers are gender-assigned, dormitory style.

NOTE: All Double Rooms have been filled.

A spacious, duplex-style "bunkhouse" is available when the doubles are filled. The bunkhouse is nestled in the woods and has a separate men's and women's wings with 6 bunk beds in each, dormatory-style bathrooms, and a central meeting room with a small refrigerator and microwave.

In order to maintain the potency of the retreat setting, we strongly encourage participants to stay on-site at the Gwinwood Retreat Center if at all possible.

For those with greater privacy needs:
Tent Camping is available on a grassy lawn near the Westwood Retreat Center building. Tent campers can use bath facilities at the Bunkhouse.

There are two RV hookups adjacent to the Bunkhouse. Additional RV and camper units can park on the driveway to the Westwood Center.

THERE IS NO DISCOUNT for camping or for staying off-campus.

payment options
YOUR PAYMENT SECURES YOUR SPOT IN THE RETREAT

We can accept payment in the form of checks, or electronically via PayPal.

All registrations after August 15 must be paid in full.

Full Tuition:   $1,750 paid on or after July 1 (balance must be paid by August 15)

While we welcome an upfront payment in full, we provide the option to make a $500 deposit to hold your spot.
scholarships
In resonance with Trillium Awakening's intent to catalyze collective awakening and liberation, and in recognition of the historical and systemic impacts of oppression in the US of minoritized groups, the Olympia Trillium Community is offering honorary scholarships as reparation to people who are assigned minoritized rank due to age, disability, religion, ethnicity, social class, sexual orientation, indigenous heritage, national origin (immigrant), and gender.

We have set aside funds for 10 honorary scholarships of $100 each, which will be awarded on a first-come, first served basis.

It is up to you to determine whether the criteria applies to you or not - we trust and honor your judgment. Only one  scholarship will be awarded per person.

Definition of Minoritized
"A social group that is devalued in society. This devaluing encompasses how the group is represented, what degree of access to resources it is granted, and how the unequal access is rationalized. The term "minoritized" (rather than minority) is used to indicate that the group's lower position is a function of active socially constructed dynamics, rather than its numbers in society." (R DiAngelo,
What Does it Mean to be White?)

Look for this option on the Registration Form.
Creative Expression night
One of the much-anticipated traditions of Transfiguration Retreats is the Creative Expression Night where we share and celebrate our unique talents, expressions, and interests.

Of course, participation is optional, and we encourage you to consider daring to share a song, a poem or piece of writing, some music, a movement, some artwork, or whatever else your Being feels moved to bring into the light of loving receptivity.
